I have been doing SEO for past few years. Currently, I am working on a few projects as well and I scream every time when I notice a keyword climbing closer to the top place. That kind of thrill, I don’t get anywhere!

Being said that, I have promised myself to work very hard and learn more. I am pushing myself to every extreme to stay as top SEO expert in Nepal.

So what is SEO (Searching Engine Optimization) actually?

SEO also known as Search Engine Optimization is the process of ranking your websites in organic search results among different search engines. Which, then results in increased traffic to your website through organic search engine results.

So with SEO you want to rank on the top of the search engine results for a particular keyword or query and drive the organic traffic to your web page.

Why do you need SEO?

Search Engines are the primary sources from which websites get a big chunk of visitors. Major search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo send large volumes of free traffic to your web pages if you are ranking on the top for certain keywords that a big volume of users are searching for.

And if you are not in the top results then you are missing a huge opportunity in the form of your potential customers. That’s why people invest thousands and thousands of their money in SEO.

SEO in Nepal

I have been thinking about how the SEO specialist in Nepal started with SEO. But I guess it wasn’t an easy ride for them. Web design and developing were growing rapidly but Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization must have been over shadowed. Simply, because people under-looked SEO services in Nepal back then. There are few stories I have heard from people too.

At present stage, the emerging list of SEO Companies in Nepal says that there is definitely some potential hot market for SEO experts in Nepal. Not only that, there are various different Nepali Internet Marketing groups in Facebook where people share their ideas and methods about making money.

Not only that, there are some local SEO companies as well that offers SEO services in Nepal.

Combining all these facts, it can be said that the future of SEO is bright in Nepal.

I haven’t met many people who make living with SEO. Just a few happy guys mostly offering their services to clients abroad.

What is the cost for SEO?

Before I answer that I would like to ask, “What is the cost for a car?” Of course, it depends! Depends on what you are going for and your budget.

Quality SEO takes time and cost higher than those fiver gigs that promise you hundreds of useless backlinks to your site. You can’t rank and bank with those kind of services. Good SEO takes into consideration about how search engine works and what is needed not to build just a link, but to build a relationship with other websites.

You should be able to invest at least $500 per month for the SEO work of your business. That’s the minimum amount. But when you are competing for a BIG keyword that can bring you big money, you should remember there are plenty of other big companies out there competing for the top place. And of course they are burning more than $500/m for that.

Things I understood about SEO

Well, I don’t call myself an SEO specialist yet. I have a long way to go. But from what I have learned so far, I can point you to the right direction.

People often underestimate the power of On-page SEO. I have seen SEO consultants running after backlinks. Backlinks do have high effect in ranking but it’s not everything. Both of your on page SEO and Off page SEO must be strong.

There are many different factors that need to be focused along with backlinks. With a proper optimized on-page SEO of a page, you can easily rank for low competition keywords. I am going to list the few other terms that play an important role in the SEO of a site.

Here are some basic ideas for a properly optimized page of a site:

Keyword research: It’s very important to do the right keyword research. People normally neglect this step and then they lose big money. Why? Because if you are not targeting the right audience, you won’t make money.

Always choose right keyword for your. Spend some time analyzing your keywords. Check with the monthly search volume and the competition.

Go for the long tail and easy keywords first. It’s much easier to rank your site this way. Once you make it to the top, you can focus on the competitive keywords. The wise idea is to rank for low keywords than not to rank for any of the competitive keywords.

Focus on your On-page optimization:

– Write unique and longer contents on your site. Rich in-depth quality contents rank quickly than short low quality contents. Use image, infographics and videos in content to keep your visitors stuck to the content.

– Use your main keyword that you are ranking in first paragraph or within first 200 words of the content but don’t try stuffing your keywords. Your reader may find it difficult to read and also it looks spammy for the search engines algorithm.

– Manage you title tag with your main keyword as it will appear in the search engine result page with clickable headline for given result and make it engaging so people will want to click the link.

– Write unique description that target audience to your site. Make it easier for your audience to understand what the page is about.

– Inter Link between your internal pages so as to pass link juice from one page to another.

– Make proper use of “Alt text” for your images. Compress your images so that they load faster.

Site speed: You customers won’t like it when they have to wait for a few minutes to open up a web page. They may just close the browser or go back to the SERP, which can increase pogo sticking.

Spend some time fixing up these issues.

Learning SEO is not very hard if you follow the right directions. Some people just rush to see the results quickly which is very unlikely to happen. Then they give up on SEO!

Go slow and first learn how search engines work. Results take time depending on the difficulty of keywords. The time range to see results may vary from few months to years.

SEO is one of the important parts of your marketing plan. Targeting the right keywords will bring free organic traffic to your website and can bring your money.

I am new to this world of SEO but I am very passionate about it. Like I mentioned above, I want to be an expert one day and offer my SEO services in Nepal. It may be hard but not impossible.
